My Creative Space

I found these nice linens from my fabric stash. Some are remnants from fabric store's sale box, few I bought years ago in Tallinn, Estonia. Looks like the brown one has my print experiment on it. For some reason I never used it when it was printed. Somehow I feel I need to put together a bit stronger colors than usual. My items have recently been quite pale in colors so a little change could be welcome. Now that I should have a little more time to get prepared for Christmas season I want to experiment something new. I made few fabric dahlias yesterday (those of you who have been following me know that I've had brooches and necklaces made out of them), they will soon embellish new clucthes I'm about to try now. So linen clutches with cotton flower embellishments is my plan. I hope they will turn out just fine. There's always a risk when trying out something new. We will see!

Custom Work Finished

I finished my custom wholesale order and had it mailed out yesterday. Here are few pictures of my work I did for Unkai. I spent quite a while editing pictures last night and got a feedback today: they will use my product pictures on their shop site, yippee! It's so nice to have my items represented there the same way I do on my site and in my Etsy shop. I also prepared a bunch of nice packages for those pouches (I used vintage wallpaper and paper tags I got from my fellow Etsian Greet of Fleurfatale). Now, these would make sweet little gifts for the Christmas, for example. They will be soon available here (they do ship internationally but you need to get a shipping quote by emailing them...).

Fluffy Weekend

May I introduce you our new family member: a tiny kitten we got yesterday. He's 12 weeks old and we only know his Mom was found wild in the nature when expected him and his little sister. The kittens were born in the shelter and their Mom is now taken care and getting accustomed to people too.

Last night we didn't sleep so well. Our bigger cat 'Kiti' was sort of anxious about a new comer. Also, a little one 'Ula' was probably scared of the new place and situation. Today we have progressed but it will take some time before these two get smoothly together (I hope it will eventually happen).

So these are my weekend news. Have a fluffy weekend, you too!

My Creative Space

Today I've got two projects on my table: retro pouches and bear & birdie pinback brooches. I received an order this week. It is a Finnish webshop for conscious shopping, filled with eco-friendly labels and items. The collaboration with this webshop has worked so nicely. I choose fabric samples from my stash, take pictures and send them via e-mail for a review. They pick a few of their favorites and place an order. It is possible to make wholesale with unique items made from recycled materials! Of course, if the orders were really big I might face a real challenge. But with these amounts and a little planning it works just fine.

1. french press coffee, 2. raspberry white chocolate mousse, 3. Rose Bud Bath Melts, 4. Queen Bee soap (Secret Life of Bees)

Yesterday I bought a magazine. It's sort of news as I don't shop magazines all that often these days. Anyways, it was a new one, Maalaisunelma with lovely country living style. Such a great source of inspiration as I could imagine all smells by just reading the food recipes and seeing beautiful arrangements of ingredients and dishes. Of course the articles about renovated homes and gardening tips were among my favorites too. There was also a side wide ad of a local handmade soap brand I hadn't heard of before. I checked their site and found an awesome on-line shop!

So this week's flickr favorites is all about yummy soaps in beautiful packages. I feel like looking through my own little soap book I got as a birthday present almost a year ago. I really love reading it but haven't had time to give a try yet. Maybe soon!

Monday Moodboard

The first snow is on the ground here! It wont last long but I will enjoy it to the fullest as everything looks so much brighter today. That's what I love about snow and winter. And the cold weather wont bother you as long as you keep yourself warm by dressing in layers. My monday moodboard got inspired by the upcoming winter season. Beautiful natural whites with little silver and a touch of soft rosa and beige. Enjoy and have a great new week!

Do you have something particular on your wishlist this weekend?!

My Creative Space

Hi everyone!
I hope I don't disappoint you today with my creative space posting. This picture comes from our kitchen, it's the blueberry pie I made from berries I got from my Mom. She's an avid berry picker and ensures every year that our freezer wont get empty. Forests are full of berries here and this year we got plenty of blueberries. So I can still make few pies in the upcoming winter. Thanks Mom!

The weather forecast promised the first snow to fall in Southern Finland today. I heard on Twitter (yes, this is such a reliable news source these days!) that it was snowing in Helsinki this afternoon already. Maybe it's coming to our little town soon too?

To fight against grayness and cold I made this warm and sunny mosaic. I especially love the superprincess fox print from Joutomaa shop. I hope it makes your inspiration fly!

My Creative Space

I'm thinking about new ways how to present my jewelry in photos. I tried this piece of vintage print fabric I got from a flea market just recently. The black satin rose is an old piece as well. Frame is also a second hand piece I painted white and sanded to give it a bit rough look. By the way, these frames work quite nicely as jewelry displays on craft fairs. I could make a tutorial for them one of these days. How does that sound to you?

It's my Mom's 60th birthday today! I booked a table a restaurant with a view. So good to see her, we'll have a nice evening.

Site Refreshment

I'm finally finished with the site update! I know it should have been done a month ago but at least I can say I feel happy about it now. I chose these photos I photographed back in Japan, hydrangea is one of my favorite flowers grown in gardens world wide. So these could have been shot in Finland (or anywhere else) but for me they hold a special place in my heart just because I remember the place I saw them in person. In real life these flowers were pinkish but I needed an autumnal and dreamy look so PhotoShop became handy again.

My only concern is, are they too gloomy? I just felt that a bit of warmth & depth was needed. How did I do? I welcome your feedback!

Now, the banners on blog and shop need to be fixed as well, I think...

1. sleeptight, 2. Bird & peacock teapot, 3. a box of miscellaneous, 4. book shelf

Wow, I can see the sun shining, it really does wonders! It's soft and warm toned light we get in autumn season. And when I go outside I can see how all autumnal colors on leaves reflect the light in such a beautiful way. And guess what else makes me delighted today? I got the delivery notice into my mailbox, there is a package waiting for me at the PO. It's sent from Portugal meaning my purchase from Kjoo has arrived now!

Talking about this week's flickr favorites, I just love this bird & peacock teapot by ninainvorm. In fact, as we don't have a teapot, I would really need one. Hmmm!

The weekend is over again. Monday wouldn't be so difficult if the sun shined and the temperature degrees outside were just a little bit higher. But the weather is changing all the time: rain, rain, wind and hints of sun here and there. *sigh

I looked for some red tones to warm me up today. Also a slice of sweet cake wouldn't hurt me now. I could find a flower for my hair at a florist shop. I wish a nice week to all of you! More Monday Moodboards can be found at Greet's blog...

Happy Weekend

I visited my best friend and her family yesterday and stayed overnight at their new place. No doubt we should arrange meet ups more often, it's always such a delight to see each other and there's a whole lot to share. But look with whom I also made friends with! They had a tiny 12 weeks old kitten there. He (I think he was a guy!) likes to run and jump and climb and play. A little nap here and there and then we go again. I almost wanted to tuck him into my handbag and take him home (be assured I didn't - yet!).

Enjoy the weekend!
