Flickr Favorites/Garden Party

Hello lovelies,

It seems the heat wave has hit us
it's incredibly hot which makes me
want to make fresh drinks
such as cold lemonade
I've been eating lots of fruits
they are delicious on hot days
oh, and the roses started to bloom, too

My Creative Space

Happy Thursday everyone!

Somehow this week seems shorter to me
must be because of Easter Monday
which was a holiday here

It's been warm and nice all week
so I decided to make my creative space post
about gardening things

Tiny tomato seedlings got re-potted last weekend

I found these lovely rose gloves from a local gardening shop

Couldn't resist poppy and bean seeds, either

Ula is another anxious wanna-be gardener here

Other good news:
My studio space will get an interior magazine feature
I was interviewed this Tuesday *excited*

Season Delights

ripe plums and tiny tomatoes
very last marigolds
blooming before they fade away
then I will collect their seeds
keep them in a secure place
to sow them next spring again
keeping the circle moving

What do you like the most in autumn season?

Happy New Things

Last few days I've been trying to make friends with my sewing machine and succeeded partly. Here are two new pieces I got photographed today. A couple of linen purses will be finished tomorrow so stay tuned!

Cotton candy features a lovely hand crocheted vintage lace and silk buttons

Summer meadow with some Scandinavian bloom print, cute button + ribbon

Apple blossoms are blooming in our garden now

Totally unplanned I made this triple bloom headband today

This piece I will keep for myself but could consider making more for my shoppe

Funny thing is I wanted to book a hairdresser for this week but mine had her schedule already full so I totally failed to have a haircut as desired. Perhaps this inspired me to make a hair adornment? Anyways this piece will be useful and pretty for several occasions for sure. I already know I will wear it for my cousin's wedding this summer. Now need to find a sweet dress to match the headband...

Have a lovely week everyone!

Summery Meadows

Isn't it a cliché that nature works as a source of inspiration? But what can I say? It probably does, if you want to call it an inspiration. Not that it would be incredibly extraordinary or original but I happen to like flowers! Thinking about wild flowers in a summery meadow brings me so many good memories from my childhood. I was lucky to visit my parents' childhood homes in the countryside when I was a little girl. It was good and healthy to see cows and horses and sheep in a paddock. And I always wanted to go and pick some wild flowers to make a wreathe. So it probably comes from there. Maybe it's a girl thing! I've always enjoyed sketching flowers. Just lately I have embroidered them by hand on clutches too. I'm in a process of experimenting a bit more and listing them in my shoppe. These three are already available there. So happy!

Blooming Weekend

I was away from home for four days this week, I visited my parents who live 6 hours by train from me. These days we don't get a chance to meet too often, I wish we lived closer to each other. We spent a lot of time outdoors, we walked and had bicycle rides. I even bought a brand new bike (will show pictures later on, I hope)! I got back home last night and was delighted to see and smell new flowers in the garden: tulips, woodland strawberry, lilacs & poppies are soon in full bloom. Also apple, cherry and plum trees are blooming right now, so pretty! This weekend the weather forecast promised truly summery degrees, so far it has fulfilled its promises. Other than that I've been experimenting a bit more on hand embroidery. Hopefully I manage to finish some work within few days. It'd be great to list something new to my shop soon.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello Ladybird

This Sunday was such a sunny but ah, very windy day here. I spent some time in the garden raking leaves and fighting against the first weeds (yes, they're coming early). I saw tulips peeking eagerly, as well as bleeding hearts (lamprocapnos spectabilis) and herbs like parsley and oregano to mention a few. If I haven't been very succesful in growing vegetables in the past years the herbs don't seem to fail on me. It must be because many of them are perennial and don't require that much attention but are happy on their own. And of course they apparently have a proper place with a suitable soil to grow. There were quite many ladybirds in the flower-bed. They were moving so fast I couldn't capture more than one to a picture. Such little creatures. I love them!

I got nice news today. Nei had put up a lovely article about Karuski on her greenfashionfreak blog. Thank you. Kiitos!
