Flickr Favorites/Midsummer

Hello friends!

This week we'll be celebrating the Midsummer
It means many will travel to countryside
to enjoy the silence and bonfires by the lake
This is the time when the sun wont set
it's the light nights celebration.
Unfortunately the weather forecast
isn't very promising, it will be
rather rainy this year.
Usually we travel to my
parents' summer cabin but
now we might postpone our trip to July.

Flickr Favorites/Garden Party

Hello lovelies,

It seems the heat wave has hit us
it's incredibly hot which makes me
want to make fresh drinks
such as cold lemonade
I've been eating lots of fruits
they are delicious on hot days
oh, and the roses started to bloom, too

Thinking about Christmas, it's only one month away. I bought a Christmas themed magazine yesterday, haven't had time to read it yet, just flipped through it and got inspired already! Are you into Christmas ornaments? I might want to make few, just to try something new out. By the way, fresh flowers in a vase with beautiful candles by the side make a nice arrangement too. It doesn't need to be all that much, if you like it simple.

I received a package of holiday cards (was it last week or so...) from modernmotive. The same as you see in my mosaic. They are lovely. Besides that they are printed on 100% post-consumer fiber. I love them!

Winter is here, can't deny it and it will be several long months until we see lovely green moss again. Somehow I miss those sunny autumn days and walks in the woods. If we only got lots of snow it would be great as the snow really makes everything look so much brighter and beautiful. Right now we have plus celsius degrees so the snow we got last week has mostly melted away. I hope it will change soon. However, the winters are no longer the same as they used to be, probably due to the climate change. But I'm still happy we have four seasons here!

1. french press coffee, 2. raspberry white chocolate mousse, 3. Rose Bud Bath Melts, 4. Queen Bee soap (Secret Life of Bees)

Yesterday I bought a magazine. It's sort of news as I don't shop magazines all that often these days. Anyways, it was a new one, Maalaisunelma with lovely country living style. Such a great source of inspiration as I could imagine all smells by just reading the food recipes and seeing beautiful arrangements of ingredients and dishes. Of course the articles about renovated homes and gardening tips were among my favorites too. There was also a side wide ad of a local handmade soap brand I hadn't heard of before. I checked their site and found an awesome on-line shop!

So this week's flickr favorites is all about yummy soaps in beautiful packages. I feel like looking through my own little soap book I got as a birthday present almost a year ago. I really love reading it but haven't had time to give a try yet. Maybe soon!

Wow, I can see the sun shining, it really does wonders! It's soft and warm toned light we get in autumn season. And when I go outside I can see how all autumnal colors on leaves reflect the light in such a beautiful way. And guess what else makes me delighted today? I got the delivery notice into my mailbox, there is a package waiting for me at the PO. It's sent from Portugal meaning my purchase from Kjoo has arrived now!

Talking about this week's flickr favorites, I just love this bird & peacock teapot by ninainvorm. In fact, as we don't have a teapot, I would really need one. Hmmm!

Today we have a very rainy day, in fact it's pouring right now! I wish it changed soon because I would need to run errands in town. I don't really feel like taking a bike ride in a rain... H took the car when hurried to the train station in the morning. Not that I need to stay unoccupied though. I started to edit new pictures yesterday and managed to make a few Etsy listings so I can keep on working on those. A perfect rainy day activity, I think. What do you like to do on a rainy day? Please share!

I feel quite cosy now. It must be because a busy weekend is behind and now I have a chance to take a little break. This is not a holiday though! I just sold a made to order handbag through my Etsy shop so that is the first thing to be finished. I have also been busy taking pictures and listing new stuff in my shop (it's good I didn't sell out at the craft market, right?!), it's a constant and time consuming process as every Etsy seller knows so well. But there are also moments when I'm enjoying the silence, forgetting all worries and feeling content.

This week's favorites I collected from my Flickr's contacts. I hope you find them cosy too!

I'm feeling fragile. It is because of a shock I experienced yesterday. I had been supply shopping on Etsy and unfortunately faced a seller whose product didn't meet my expectations. So I had to leave her three feedback: one positive, one neutral and one negative. What did I receive in return? Three negative feebacks. Yes, this really happened. I have contacted both the seller and the Etsy admin but so far there is no response from either one. I keep on waiting. And what really makes me mad, is that this seller's product was really poor, some of them fell to pieces just too easily. How could I sell items further made from this crap? On top of this she's not accepting returns. This should have been a warning sign to me right in the beginning! A reputable seller accepts returns, no matter if the item is perfect or faulty.

It is so sad the Etsy buyer cannot leave an honest feedback in fear of getting abused. As far as I have understood these issues have been solved on Ebay. The buyer protection is so much stronger there. I think I will refrain from buying supplies on Etsy until the feedback system has changed. It has to change! If you want to avoid a disappointment, please go and look through my feedback so you know who I'm talking about here.

Today I felt like mismatching nature photos with hand embroidery, a new way to make a mosaic for me. They do have something in common though: squirrels like acorns. And autumn is here, this is the season.

I hope to continue my learning process in hand embroidery again. It would be fun but I think I have to postpone this plan just a little. Another craft market is coming up in September and I need to get prepared for that.

I'm sorry for a short post today, I feel so tired. I took a cat to the vet today. We are both exhausted now. She from recovering from narcosis and me from not sleeping enough last night.

Feel free to hop over Mitsy's blog to enjoy of more mosaics!

Last two weeks I didn't have a chance to put together my Flickr favorites but here they come again. I got an invitation to a new group: granny chic... formed by Emma. I immediately felt inspired and loved browsing around pictures posted in there. I think there's a bit of autumn in the air already. Warm mustard, grape purple and chocolate brown look so nice to me after a light, breezy summer. I might be adding some earthly tones to my own designs soon as well. In fact I find autumn one of my very favorite seasons, can't wait to see trees changing colors and air turning fresh and chilly. Also, autumn has always been a start for something new to me. This year I'm looking forward to signing up for ceramics class again.

Time flies, even in the summer!
I finished my custom wedding order and mailed it out all the way to Colorado yesterday (will post some pictures soon, I hope) and just remembered I had promised to participate at Get Eurofied promotion, samples were due yesterday. Lucky thing I had crafted a bunch of hairpins just lately so most of my samples are ready and can be packed and mailed out tomorrow. I finished a layout for my new visit cards, they should be in my hands in a couple of days.

I try to enjoy the summer but at the same time I need to orientate to a upcoming craft fair (it will take place just in a couple of weeks!). I think I need to postpone my vacation and take time off after the fair instead. I feel that I'm hiding in bushes right now, just like this garden gnome in my mosaic! Btw, I found three of these inspiring pictures from Hasselblad/Mamiya/Polaroid pool.

Here comes my all times favorite theme: Japanese inspired!

I think I'm not at my best this week, I should be already thinking of my upcoming craft fair. In fact I have done my thinking but can't get my gear into making yet. It's because I would like to have a little vacation first. At my weak moments I wish I could go back to a regular day job. Then I would have a 4 week summer vacation like normal people do (but only if I managed to get a stable contract). After 4 weeks doing anything productive I could return to office and start counting for the next vacation. No, seriously I couldn't handle that any longer. But still, a human being needs to have some time off everything once in a while. Next week, I promise myself!

Other thing, I became a "sponsor" by purchasing a little banner on Design Is Mine. You might be wondering why did I do this if I need a holiday, btw. Oh well, I got a good deal and couldn't resist this chance. Can only blame myself if some sales will follow. Vicious circle!

I love the idea of throwing a tea party. Have you read Pippi Longstocking stories? Mum of Pippi's friend invited aunties for a tea & cake, Pippi sneaks in and manages to behave a bit scandalously, grannies don't like that. But I enjoy reading those stories so!

These days I don't have chances to invite friends to party at my home very often. Everyone is too busy and friends don't live in the neighborhood. When did this change? Hmm, of course it's partly because we decided to buy a house here. An hour away from a city where most of our friends live. Maybe it's because we're getting older. Or maybe people with kids are not so interested in participating in parties so we're afraid of inviting them. On the other hand we do like our privacy and space around us which would be impossible to have in a city. It's nice to spend a weekend at home without a need to get social. But sometimes it's good to meet people. So thanks to my friend Marika who held a birthday party last Saturday. And we promised to invite them to our house soon!

As usual, you will find more mosaics linked to Mitsy's blog!

It's been many days since I blogged. The reason for this is that we've finally been able to enjoy of true summer up here. I took the weekend off, spent time with a friend who came to visit us. We explored flea markets (I made some fabric finds there), had a nice dinner, enjoyed sauna and crafted a bit together too. My Monday went for sewing clutches for a local shop.

I think I'm pretty much in down-to-earth feelings right now. That's why I spent a good amount of time searching this week's flickr favorites and found these beautiful pictures. I love the calmness on them all. What do you think of them? More inspiring mosaics on Mitsy's blog!

This week I simply feel happy because of nice summer days! The weather just turned warm, I've been cooking light meals, picked some wild flowers from our garden and placed them into a vase, started jogging again and already got some extra energy. I'll slowly shift towards vacation mode which means I try to use a little less time by my laptop but read more books instead. Maybe I could spend a bit more time outdoors as well. Oh, and there's some renovation work to be done this summer as well. It's a never-ending project, this house of ours. Don't get me wrong, it's fun too!

Enjoy these summery picks I found from Flickr today. And if you feel like it, pay a visit to Mitsy's blog too!

This week's Flickr Favorites of mine are of purple shades. Why, you might be wondering. I'm a bit surprised myself too as I usually connect this color to autumn season. But the blooming tree and the flowers on a bag belong to summer in a perfect way. And tags with granny's crochet flowers looked so adorable all the same I couldn't resist. I picked all these from my Flickr's contact list this time. Because I like these talented people's work. And their original pictures were a pleasure to watch.
