Weekend Wishlist

Last Friday I started with Weekend Wishlist series so that people could share their ideas for the weekend. I really enjoyed visiting everyone's blog and reading their wish lists. Please continue joining the fun this weekend and further!

This weekend I just have a few plans:

- to get started with a novel (I visited our library this week but haven't opened a book yet)
- continue with pouches I showed you yesterday
- have a glass of bubbles (it's my birthday today!)

Enjoy your weekend!
And don't forget to link to your wish list so that I can easily find you.

My Creative Space

There are quite a few things going on in my studio right now. I feel it's been hard to concentrate on anything in January. There is a need to get new designs ready but it's a slow process. At least in my case. This week I came up with this small pouch which could serve as a case for iPhone or a digital camera. It's well padded so it protects the gadget nicely. Of course it could be used to store change money or some make-up too. I'm quite happy with this one!

I was thinking to make this flower to embellish a new clutch but I noticed that silk fabric didn't work the way I wanted so I'll continue using cotton for those. But this one could make a beautiful ring, quite a lot bigger than my earlier fabric flower rings. I'm going to give a try!

Vintage lace I ordered last week arrived. A few new clutches should get ready soon and I'm about to add this lace to some of them. I'll probably choose solid colors for outer fabrics this time. Linings will have floral cottons, I'm sure.

So, this is my creative palette today and for many days ahead. Just wish me luck!

Calendar Love

I do love calendars. My life is not hectic anymore, I don't need them to write down daily meetings or anything like that. I just love having a calendar if it's a beautiful kind. A planner type of calendar is a place to jot down little notes or mark friends' birthdays so it does have a practical function, of course. But, I must say finding a suitable calendar isn't easy for me. It was already January when I found 2010 calendars I really liked. But it was all worth waiting. Today I received a sweet package from Made by a muffin. It can't be anything dull if the name is that cute! This is a custom made cotton fabric covered planner. I just adore that little fabric button and a string closure it features. Inside I found lots of interesting and useful pages: World holidays, weights & measure tables etc. Oh, and she even included a book mark made from a vintage measure tape, just perfect for a girl who sews. Thanks Laura, I'm loving my muffin calendar!

And here is a wall calendar I purchased a bit earlier this January. It was a PDF download from naomilynn's shop. I love its modern and simple look. I printed it on a semi-glossy photopaper I found from our drawer but it would look nice on a brown kraft paper too. So now I'm feeling content and relieved, I can happily watch these calendars all year until December 31st!

How was your weekend?

I made a weekend wishlist last Friday. It involded quite a few things but this is what I got done: homemade soap and a new clutch (well, still figuring out one detail but that doesn't count, ok!). Other than that we had such a cold weather so I only took a walk to town and back on Saturday, didn't go for ice-skating as planned. I also wished to bake something sweet but didn't until today (blueberry muffins are in the owen while writing this post).

My birthday is approaching fast. Maybe this made me search something with gold and some shine. I'm loving Bonzie's picture where the lady holds her skirt in a form of heart, did you notice the same?

Weekend Wishlist

Do you have any wishes for this weekend?

I'd love to do (some of) the following:
- go for ice-skating (last Sunday we had so much fun!)
- bake something sweet (suggestions?)
- watch a good movie (we have a pile of DVDs which haven't been watched yet)
- make soap (I have wanted to try this for so long, I even got a soap making book from my last birthday, now I have purchased the ingredients)
- sew a few new clutches (it's been a silent week in my studio)

I forgot to show you this print I bought some time ago from DearDodo. It's just so lovely, I could stare at it all day! I need to have it framed soon. Why is it that finding a suitable frame for a print is rather difficult. Have you experienced the same? I mean I have more than this particular print I haven't framed yet. It's a pity.

Anyway, I'm wishing a really good weekend to everyone!
Please share your wishlist by leaving a link to your blog post, I'll come for a visit!

My Creative Space

I have noticed I start making jewelry pieces whenever I try to figure out how to proceed with purse making. I find working on different materials relaxing, it sets me in balance. I think I would get bored if I only sew purses or only made jewelry, I'm that kind of restless soul.

These pendants got finished while I was waiting for some supplies to arrive. Most of all I desperately needed chain for necklaces. One custom order has been waiting because I didn't have suitable chain. But it arrived just yesterday, I'm really glad! These pendants have vintage (I mean REALLY old because we found those left over rolls from the attic when moved to this house of ours) wallpaper adhered on metal settings paired with an assortment of vintage beads. Those crystals are one of my very last pieces I have left, treasures found from a Parisian flea market a year ago.

Yesterday my shoppe got a new Dahlia necklace in black & white. It's sort of strange it didn't happen until now. I mean I had two custom orders in this color combo but never made one for my shop. Now it is there, finally. And I enjoy making textile jewelry too!

Two more weeks before Kootoyoo's blog continues with My Creative Space postings. Can't wait!

Monday Moodboard

petite green bag by baahar

linen mini dress by tortillagirl
bib necklace by kirevi8

Hello Monday! I have to admit I don't have any particular mood today, no big feelings in good or bad. I had a nice weekend though: met a good old friend on Saturday night and went ice-skating with H on Sunday evening. Loved both of them. In fact we have a perfect weather for any outdoor activity right now.

I picked some beautiful things in black/gray tones and added just a little bit of color with Kirevi's bib necklace. Gray is such a great timeless color. Have a great week everyone!

Challenge Time

Sometimes it's essential to break your boundaries, think out of ordinary. When making craft as a business it's not necessarily easy though. I mean a lot of things need to get done, get them ready and get them out to the world. Everything takes time, often you need to take care of it all just by yourself. Even though every self-employed person probably nods her/his head with me, the best part of this whole game is being independent but it is also the hardest part all the same: want it or not producing part can sometimes (or should I say often) be greater than the creative part.

I'm so grateful for Renate of Kreativlink! She's hosting a weekly challenge theme of my Etsy team this week. She wanted us to make something we haven't made before by using other technique one usually uses. I assembled a little object that can be used as a fridge magnet. It's made from a vintage metal coaster. I have added a layer of chalkboard paint on it, tied a bow with a piece of lace, sewed a few beads these and adhered them on the coaster and of course added a magnet on the back. It measures just about 9 cm in diameter so only essential things can be written in this small space. What do you think about it? This project made me really happy! You can see all entries right here.

Here's little bit of color to boost the energy levels up. Maybe this helps us to get it going with a new week again. By the way, I'm loving Birribe's other trays as well. I bought a small one with tiger stripes for H, he liked it too.

Today I started listing new clutches in my Etsy, these two below. Will post rest of my new pictures on my blog tomorrow and continue with the listing process.

Beautiful Things

I received a beautiful package a little ago, Japanese inspired earrings from Fleurfatale. Her packages are treats themselves, I really enjoyed opening this one. The earrings have lovely washi paper with a strong seal on the top, hooks are handmade of sterling silver, a perfect combination for my taste. She even added tasty Belgian chocolate for me, isn't that super thoughtful. Thanks for your kindness Greet, I'm loving your earrings!

And here's a little idea for you who make & sell jewelry. I purchased a sweet heart shaped tin box to hold things but I figured, it could be used for shooting jewelry photos too. I'd add a few dried flowers and it would create a nice vintage feel. Of course fresh flowers would make a nice alternative if you wish to choose so. Maybe you have some tins around your house or can spot one on a flea market or a store...

Happy weekend my friends!

My Creative Space

Yesterday I mentioned about my new tags. So here they are now, I'm so happy about them! They are made from a printed digital file I ordered other day this week. I added my stamp on them and after some cutting they are ready for being used. I think I will add them to embellish my packages but they also seem to be useful to hold earrings when cut in half. I've planned to have them as my new visit cards as well. Who knows if I'll make sheets from the scratch one day but now I wanted to give a try this way.

New Earrings Coming...

Here are some samples of my new earrings. A whole lot of picture editing still needs to be done but things are proceeding. I've planned to start listing new stuff in my Etsy later this evening. I also got the idea of making new giftbox decorations by adding a butterfly die cut on the top of the box. The punched paper part I'm using as a gift tag. It's such a simple and cute way to make personalized packages, I think. You can punch all kinds of left over papers and cardboards, material is usually within an easy reach. I also purchased a digital sheet to print new little tags for myself, those can be used as small thank you cards as well. Will make a bloggie about those soon to show you.

Now back to the sewing machine, quite a few purses need to be finished. Be well, everyone!

Monday Moodboard

Nice to be back blogging! Christmas was good but now it's about the time to look for the new year. I've started making new items but they are not quite ready yet. Hopefully I have something to show you in a few days.

I'm loving white and red combination, it sort of belongs to winter season, don't you think? H's Mom made me a pair of woollen socks and mittens in bright red for Christmas, they're gorgeous. And I just figured, Valentine's Day is approaching soon. We don't celebrate it much here but it's good to remember for the customer's sake. Maybe make some thank you cards in heart shape to send along your orders, just an idea!
