Little Inspiration

Hi there!

Just wanted to post a few photos for a little inspiration
I've a nice collection of vintage supplies and love to think
of their origin, places where they were made
people who have bought them in the first place
made something out of them and recycled the rest when
they have ended up to flea markets still being useful and fun to look at

I love to use those little things as part of Karuski items
plates and bowls are great for storing supplies
and they make lovely photo props as well

Bead Affairs

Hey, the weekend is here again, I hope you're enjoying your [free] time!
Some of you are aware of my detash supply shoppe on Etsy I opened this spring. I just found some beads from my studio on Friday and got them photographed. Here's something I already added to karuskisupplies, and a few more is coming this weekend.

Other than playing with beads I will cuddle up on a couch with a book. I visited our library so there's no need to find other activity this weekend. Anyways, the weather looks pretty rainy so what's a better way to spend a day?!

My Creative Space: Making Labels

A little ago someone asked me how do I make my fabric labels I sew on my purses. Here is the process with a few pictures for your inspiration.

I have this old rubber stamp where you can arrange letters as you wish

A while back I found this sweet and light fabric from a flea market
I need strong fusible interfacing to iron on the back side of my fabric

Water based screenprinting base and a few drops of pigment to make a paste

I cut reinforced fabric into long strips and attach them to my ironing board with pins. I place at least two pieces side by side to make a large batch of labels at once. You need a flat thick sponge or similar (sorry I forgot that picture!) Add a small amount of paste on your sponge and test your stamp (you need a very small amount only). Leave the paste to dry. Iron with appropriate setting to make the print permanent. Wash the stamp and the sponge for further use.

Here's my result. Now I can cut the labels with scissors as I need them

They give a nice finishing touch and emphasize the handmade feel I love.

I hope you got some inspiration to try this on your own. You can basically use any rubber stamp but those with very fine details may not work very well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you give a try I would love to hear how did you succeed!

Karuski's Supply Shop

Friends, I have some news!
This week I did set up a new shop on Etsy, it is for detashing some of my supplies which I have more than I can possibly use in a near future. Some of them are totally new which I have purchased in wholesale amounts, some are vintage finds and some are something in between. Purse frames, zippers, belt buckles, ribbon, lace, buttons and much more. I plan to add some of my fabrics there too. By the way, if you have any suggestion in what sizes and amounts you would like to shop fabrics I would be more than happy to hear!

I will be adding things little by little, there's a lot of photographing that needs to be finished first. Anyways, I hope you will stop by at karuski supplies whenever you feel like exploring some supplies for your sewing and craft projects.
