Mini Is Here With Us

Our small baby boy was born on January 13th at 6.09am.
He was 3120 g and 50 cm at the time of birth.
It was our special, lucky day!
In this photo he is six days old *smile*
We are very much looking forward to this new challenge and
opportunity to enrich our daily life.
We'll reveal his name a little bit later.

Hi friends,
Just a little update...
I'm about one week from my due date,
we are anxiously waiting for the baby here.
In fact, I'm heading to another check up at the hospital today.
They want to keep an eye on me because of my high blood pressure levels
I don't know yet how long they will keep me there.
It can be that I'll return home with the baby, it's possible.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Karuski shop takes a small break but I'm still here.
I try to post news and updates soonish.
Please stop by every now and then...

Laskettuun aikaani on enää noin viikko,

Itseasiassa joudun tänään lähtemään sairaalaan seurantaan,

vai pääsenkö vielä käymään kotona ennen H-hetkeä.
Saattaahan olla, että palaan kotiin vasta vauvan kanssa.

Merry Christmas!

What makes your Christmas special?
Do you like to follow traditions or come up with new ideas each time?

One tradition we follow with H is that we never buy a Christmas tree.
Instead I sometimes get a tiny ever green mini cypress in a pot. It brings lots of joy for a long time. I like to place fruits such as oranges, lemons and pears in a beautiful bowl or cake stand. They make lovely decoration and are edible which is great. I love to put candles on tables and fresh flowers bring cozy atmosphere, too.

We don't buy or make many gifts to each other but a few thoughtful packages are enough. What I love the most is the wrapping part! I gather recycled pieces of paper, string and make gift tags out of cardboard. It's very simple and eco-friendly, personal too. I'd say all those things I mentioned are already my own traditions I loosely follow each year, they just feel *me*. Oh, and I like to bake gingerbread cookies and a couple of cakes as well. H luckily takes care of most cooking stuff here.

Seuraatko perinteitä vai tykkäätkö ideoida uusia juttuja joka vuosi?

Meille on muodostunut perinteeksi se, että emme hanki joulukuusta.Sen sijaan ostan toisinaan pienen ikivihreän ruukkupuun josta on iloa pitkäksi aikaa. Asettelen hedelmiä kulhoon tai kakkustandiin, laitan pöydille kynttilöitä sekä tuoreita kukkia. Niistä saa aikaan melko ihanan tunnelman.

Meillä ei ole tapana antaa isoa määrää lahjoja toisillemme, mutta muutama tarkkaan harkittu paketti on kiva antaa ja saada. Parasta on mielestäni paketointi! Käytän vuoden mittaan kertyneitä kierrätettyjä papereita, kääreitä, naruja jne. Niistä saa kauniin yksinkertaisia paketteja jotka eivät rasita turhaan luontoa. Näistä kaikista pienistä jutuista on muotoutunut itselle traditioita joita sovellan vuodesta toiseen. Myös leipomispuuhat ovat osa jouluani, piparit ja pari kakkua täytyy tehdä. H on meillä onneksi ensisijainen kokkausvastaava.

Homemade Holiday Cards

Hi there!

I'm kind of late with my Christmas cards but this is what I'm making today:
holiday greeting cards with recycled cardboards!

We have stored lots of shipping material including recycled cardboards.
These are the most useful for a card project like this. Now, all I need is a paper cutter, few color pencils and a black pen. And a punch for some extra gift tags.

I wrote the recipient's mailing address on the reverse so the envelopes were not needed here.

Hieman viime tingassa olen joulukorttieni kanssa, mutta vielä tänään ehtii lähettämään edullisemmalla jouluhinnalla joten eikun toimeen!

Kaapista löytyi iso kasa pakkaus- ja postitusmateriaaleja kuten kierrätettyä pahvia ja se sopii

korttiprojektiin vallan mainiosti. Leikkaaminen käy helposti paperileikkurilla, lisäksi tarvitaan vain värikyniä ja musta tussi. Lisäksi myös rei'itin mikäli ylijäämäpaloista haluaa tehdä pakettikortteja.

Kirjoitin vastaanottajan tiedot takapuolelle, kuoria ei tarvittu.

Mukavaa joulun odottelua itse kullekin!

I've started to think about the upcoming holidays

Ihan viime aikoina olen alkanut ajattelemaan

siellä on monia juttuja joita tahtoisin joko antaa jollekin
lahjaksi tai saada ehkä myös itselleni tänä jouluna.

Little Inspiration

Hi there!

Just wanted to post a few photos for a little inspiration
I've a nice collection of vintage supplies and love to think
of their origin, places where they were made
people who have bought them in the first place
made something out of them and recycled the rest when
they have ended up to flea markets still being useful and fun to look at

I love to use those little things as part of Karuski items
plates and bowls are great for storing supplies
and they make lovely photo props as well

Hello friends!

Last weekend I participated in a design market in Turku
There was an amazing fashion show of upcoming designers
and the atmosphere of the whole event was inspiring, loved it!

It can be that I wont be making fairs or markets around
the holiday season so this was probably my last one this year
The reason is, we're expecting a baby to arrive in mid January
so I want to take it easy and avoid planning too much

Perhaps I have some extra time for my Etsy shop now?

I just wanted to take this chance to thank everyone
who visited the Korjaamo craft & design market on the weekend.
It's a place I love to go and really enjoy both interior
and the atmosphere alike.

Hi there,

Is it the days that are getting shorter
because I really feel my pace is so slow now?!
I love autumn but not very much looking forward
to those days and months with minimal daylight

Greetings From Berlin

Hi!

I just got back home from Berlin,
it was the Hello Etsy summit I visited
and as I was traveling with H
we wanted to stay for some extra days
so all in all it was a one week trip to us.

I can't believe how warm it still was in Berlin
we had dinners outside and walked without
jackets during the day
only Sunday happened to be a rainy day

It was awesome to meet lots of online Etsy friends
at the summit which took place 17. - 18.9.
There were lots of interesting sessions
one of my favorite speakers was Natalie Chanin
you should definitely check out her unique & ethnical clothing line.

Hi there,

A long weekend in Turku is now behind
we worked from 10 am until midnight (+ packing and unpacking every day)
gosh, it was fun but I'm so tired now!

Kimara had a shared tent at Tall Ships Regatta
there were lots of folks strolling by day and night
I saw some amazing old ships by the river
fireworks on Friday night looked great, too

Craft Market Calling

Hi everyone,

This weekend I'll travel to Turku with Kimara girls
we'll set up a booth for a long weekend
there's a Tall Ships Regatta in town
so we'll get a chance to see some awesome grand ships, too

So funny how sweet new ideas arrive when you're busy
and should concentrate in producing things in quantities
but what can one do... I just wanted to give a try
and came up with new floral brooches and headbands

They feature a beautiful vintage Finnish print fabric
which I reinforced and added some felt to make them sturdy
I like the way they are all unique pieces yet look nicely uniform together

For sure I'll bring a bunch of these to our upcoming weekend event!

I think It's Ready Now

Hello, it's a new day!

Rain or shine I'm pretty busy sewing and making this week
yesterday I made some small changes to the structure
of this new envelope clutch I showed you last Sunday.
It has taken hours to put every piece together but
I think it looks quite perfect and works well now.

Once I get a batch of these ready I could list them to my Etsy, too.
Oh, and tomorrow Wednesday I'll be at Kimara's shoppe in Helsinki,
stop by and say hello if you're in town!

New Work: Envelope Clutch

Hi,

It's been a while since I wanted to create an envelope clutch
but came up with a nice design just this weekend
so here are the first pictures of my new piece.
What is great about this design is that this clutch
closes with a zipper (everything stays securely inside)
but has also a beautiful flap with a magnet closure
which gives detailed finishing touch to this piece.
Both inner and outer fabrics have been reinforced
so the clutch holds its shape nicely.

Besides sewing I strolled in the woods for hours yesterday
we went for mushroom hunting and found lots of chanterelles
so I bet we'll make chanterelle soup (maybe even a quiche) today.

New, Pretty Things

Hello!

I've been tinkering with some sweet new things here
fabric scrap covered button magnets,
chalkboard magnets with a ribbon (or without, too),
bambi pouches + other small pouches (no pictures of those yet).

What a great opportunity to try out some fun things
as we now have the Kimara summer shop open for August

Soon I need to get busy with a three days crafty event
I'll attend with these Kimara ladies
it's called The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta
and takes place 26. – 28.8. in Turku

There hasn't really been chances for shop updates on Etsy yet,
hopefully this can happen somewhere later in August.

kimaraCRAFTS pop up shop

Hi dear friends,

I know it's been a while since I posted here
July was partly vacation and partly working month for me.
I guess as a one woman business you can never fully rest, ha.

A lot of things have proceeded and the news is:
We've opened a pop up shop for a month of August in Helsinki!

This is an experimental project with four other crafty ladies
and we have worked hard to make it look like us
We even named our collaboration "kimaraCRAFTS"
It's not only about this shop but we'll be attending
craft shows and other happenings together here and there.
Fun & exciting!

If you're in Helsinki in August make sure to pay a visit
We have furnished a sea container with Scandinavian style
and we're located in Hernesaari
where the sea meets the concrete in an appealing way

Happy Magazine Feature

Hello Wednesday!

Today I got a happy start to my day
it was a customer's phone call
and I realized my interview for
Divaani interior magazine had been published
It talks about Karuski studio
and inspiration behind my collection.
Did you know what is the story behind my label name?
My Dad talked about karuski and meant candy so
I adopted this name as my work has quite sweet looks
Now you know!

This week we're making some renovation work on the balcony
I'm also sewing new pouches for Korundi shop in Rovaniemi
So I would call this 50% vacation now.

Local Flea Finds

Hello, hello!

Today I visited a few flea markets
I didn't have any expectations
that's usually the best approach, I've noticed
but I found lots of lovelies!
Vintage lamps and lamp shades
large suitcase, rag rug, fabrics
glass bowl, hand crocheted table cloth

I'm planning a *fun* one month event
with 4 of my crafty friends.
It will take place in August so
cannot reveal everything just yet.
These flea finds will play a big role in our project.
It's exciting times!

Besides these sweet repurposed finds it's been
a beautiful summer day here
I had a lunch in the garden
toast and natural yoghurt with strawberries & grapes
refreshing sparkling water in a glass
couldn't ask for more, really.

I hope you're enjoying sunny days as well!

We stayed at home

My Creative Space

It's the studio post day today!

Yesterday I started with
a new batch of button pouches
Here is a sneak preview of fabrics
I chose several floral prints
in cotton and corduroy
many of them are local flea finds
and a couple are Japanese print patterns
flower fabrics are just great
especially in the summer season!

Summer Cooking

Welcome Monday!

After a super hot weekend it's raining today
I'm pretty happy and the nature must love this too.
On Saturday I wanted to try something alternative
to regular cooking
For me hot meals on hot days aren't
the most desired choice so
I decided to make a layered sandwich cake instead

You might know these cold cakes are
pretty popular in Scandinavia
they are often offered at spring and summer parties
but it's just fine to make one any day
for yourself and your family!

My cake was a vegetarian one but fish and shrimps are popular fillings
Some prefer several layers, I had two on mine
I didn't follow any recipe but here is one to check out
Improvising is always accepted
For example I wanted to avoid mayonnaise
and used plain yogurt mixed with fresh cheese (such as Philadelphia)
My fillings had diced tomatoes with basil and
spring onions with parsley + grated cucumber
These cakes taste the best on the following day...

Happy Saturday!

Hot days are still here but soon
we will be getting thunderstorms.
Today I photographed
a whole bunch of bambi pouches *happy*
I'm spending this weekend with cats
H is taking a weekend trip to a music festival.
On hot days cooking is hard for me so
I'm eating fruits and my favorite snack
is unsweetened plain yoghurt with sliced pears
ps. basil & pineapple sage add a lovely flavor to them

I hope to get to a flea market this weekend
would be fun to score something
perhaps some pretty fabrics?!

Hello Sunday,

The weekend has been just great
warm and relaxing
I've been reading
and planting the runner beans to the ground
I didn't wash the windows upstairs
but I baked a meringue cake

And I did draw the winner for my giveaway:
There were 26 participants and the lucky winner
was number 11: Evelyn
I have contacted her via email

For the cake, I made meringue with
2 egg whites + 1,5 dl sugar + 1 teaspoon white vinegar
filling is whipped cream with a bit of sugar, vanilla and lemon juice
I sliced 1/2 pear and a few strawberries, too
would serve 4-5 persons
super easy and tasty

Weekend Hello

Dear everyone,

This must be a record
no new post for a whole week
Many things have happened
after the fair which took place
last Saturday and Sunday
I travelled to a design seminar
both Monday and Tuesday
then I got really sick
the flu gave me signs already on Sunday
I should have given up earlier

I still haven't recovered
just wanted to say hi
despite of this nasty flu
I'm feeling grateful
Thanks again for everyone who came to see me

It's About Buttons

Hello!

Just two days ago I came up with a new design
It's so funny these new ideas pop in my head now
when I'm busy making for the weekend's craft market
But what can I say, I feel grateful
It's not easy to make something new and fresh
and these ideas don't come every day
at least not in my case.

They turned out long cases, perfect for pens, pencils and brushes

I covered button blanks with scraps of vintage fabrics

I love to treasure left over fabrics, even tiny pieces of them

I got a lovely donation of button blanks from Susanne.
Isn't she the sweetest ♥

Craft Market Preps/Displays

Hi there,

This week I've neglected my poor little blog a lot.
It's incredible how days seems to have too few hours.
I'm sure you've noticed the same, no?

Besides working on new jewelry and purses
for the upcoming design craft market
I've been thinking of how to display my pieces
I scored a sweet little scarf from a local flea
and wanted to give it a new life so
I came up with an idea to tweak my earrings display.

I've been using this old frame in the past but it screamed for an "update"

I placed the fabric on top of an recycled cork memory board
(which I first cut to fit the frame)

thumbtacks stick to the board and earrings have now sturdy hangers

This vintage cake stand is another flea market find and perfect for my button rings

I also needed some nice promo pictures

and figured I could use my chalkboard sign to display my newest earrings

The sign itself is a vintage tray which I had painted earlier

So this is what is going on here right now.

Quick hello from Karuski studio!

I'm working hard on new bambi pouches for my reseller Joutomaa.
If I only have time I'll have the pictures taken &
share some with you before mailing them out.

My first spring craft market is coming up soon.
It is just 1 1/2 weeks away.
I'll share the booth with Tuuni.
She makes lovely home decor items.

There are incredibly many things going on now.
I try to post about the craft market preps
as some of you may find inspiration from there.

Hi,

It's been a crazy busy week here.
I've been working on Team EcoEtsy's
upcoming Handmade Earth Day Auction graphics
Their online event starts next Monday.
Also, my taxes are due next Monday. Hurray.
I did finish two wholesale orders
and mailed them out on Thursday *happy*

This week I didn't spend much time creating.
I'm working on my studio renewal, it needs some extra space.
There is a loom in my studio but

Weekend Wishlist

Hi,

I'm feeling sad because of news about
earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan.
It's a surreal feel to read & watch those news
houses collapsing, cars and people floating in the water.
I heard back from friends and they are luckily safe.
I'm can't help thinking,
this could have happened when I was staying in Tokyo.
These are such unexpected and unfortunate things
that you just cannot be prepared enough.

I am hoping people in Japan can soon go back to their normal lives.
Japan hasn't yet requested financial help from the world but
The Red Cross is encouraging people to donate because
The day can come that these funds will be needed.

New Photos: Experimenting

Hello!

Today I crabbed my camera [or it's actually H's but I get to borrow it]
and had a small photo shooting session.
I thought it would be the time to improve my photos again
so below are examples what I came up with.

What I find important is the nice natural light
which means it needs to be a sunny day [not guaranteed here!]
I hoped to bring a bit of spring spirit to my item shots
so I added flowers as props
[they are not real but still look quite pretty]
I tried to go close to the item and
I used a wide shutter to reach more depth to the photo.
I love pictures that aren't equally sharp but have
small points in focus and the rest of the picture may be blurred
They simply look appealing and interesting to me.

I'm constantly struggling to find the right color balance
as I'm looking for a little dreamy look
but still want to keep the colors true.
One thing is sure though:
photos are never ready when they come
straight out of camera but need some editing too.

Well, there's always room for improvement!

Hello, it's a new week again!

The weekend was really nice.
On Saturday we went to see an art exhibition in Fiskars village.
The exhibition itself wasn't all that great
but I loved the sunny weather and time spent with H.
We also planned some small home deco project:
wallpapering one wall in our bedroom.

Yesterday evening I started to update my site
and there's still some work to be done.
I really wish I had nice shots with a model.

Hello Sunday,

How has your weekend been?
On Friday I was hoping to have a relaxing weekend ahead but...
it turned out I needed to get finished with my sales taxes.
Still working on those.
~~Bah~~ Pain.

One good news is we've been eating über-healthy.
Yesterday: wholegrain ecological rice and tomato based spicy sauce with soy
Today: vegetarian split pea soup,
I might try this soup recipe over 101cookbooks
Between meals I've tried knäckebröd with sliced avocado + lemon *yum*

New Work: Earrings

Hi there,

What a nice weekend we had visiting a good friend who threw a house warming party on Saturday night. But, Henri got sick and had fever on Sunday and Monday too.

Today I felt strange after getting home from my riding class. Now it feels like I'm not going to get out of bed tomorrow. I couldn't take a few days off from working now. Need to finish doing taxes and such. But I don't want to work when feeling icky and feverish, either. *sigh*

Here are just a few new earrings I photographed this afternoon. Red roses are in Karuski's shoppe, other new ones need to wait until I get back to normal.

This week it's been so cold again:

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's freezing cold in Southern Finland today: -21 celsius so I'll be adding wood to our fireplace.

I spent the weekend in Stockholm with H and what a great time we had. I had a chance to meet with sweet Carolina yesterday. We met at Moderna Museet, visited the current exhibition, checked out the Architecture Museum and chatted with a cup of coffee. I'll post some pictures this week!

I also met Saori, my Japanese friend at the furniture fair, she had her work on display at Konstfack's space. We spent almost all day at the fair. There's always so much to see and the most inspiring things are usually exhibited by students. I absolutely want to share a few of my favorites later this week.

People are always curious about the item and its background and also a person behind the item. So I came up with an idea of such a mini poster that I could deliver to those boutiques that sell Karuski collection. This comes in A5 size and will be framed nicely and placed next to Karuski purses and jewelry. I write a bit of myself and materials I use which play a major part in my design process. I could use this mini poster at my craft fair tables too.

For A Good Cause: EuropeForCharity

Dear friends,

Many of you are aware of EuropeForCharity, the Etsy shop which donates all its proceedings for good causes. This shop was opened when the world was hit by flood news in Pakistan last summer. It is managed by Baa and all items are donated by members of EuropeanStreetTeam. The shop was able to donate $750 in 2010 and the donations went for Architecture for Humanity and Kashf Foundation which both make very hard rebuilding work in Pakistan.

A new organization has been added to the list: BlinkNow which works on grass root level in Nepal, helping local orphans to have a better future. Have a look at their site, it is an amazing story of what one young lady can do to change things for better.

Hello Monday!

Did you have a nice weekend, what are your plans for this new week?
I talked to a new retailer prospect today and it seems I will be making another batch of purses soon. This is a new shop run by designers and craft loving people. They have formed a community to join the forces for promoting and selling Finnish art, craft & design. I make consignment deals very rarely these days but this one gives me warm feelings so I'm going to give a try.

Thanks to H, my family and friends (in real life & online alike) I had a wonderful birthday on Saturday!

Here are some lovely finds for you to start the week with, each made of vintage materials. My weak point is vintage and recycled fabric + vintage jewelry parts too. On Saturday I went to a local flea market and found a great black leather skirt. I was thinking to use it to make a few pouches just to find out it fits me. Now I need to re-think what to do with this skirt. Oh, and the best part is it did cost only 3 euros.

Oh dear, how I have neglected my dear blog!

This new year got a slow start but now I'm in a full swing again: sewing and making jewelry for a new wholesale account here in Finland. More about that soon...

Bigger news is here: I'm starting to take care of Handmade Europe, the blog of European Street Team on Etsy. As Judit of Vadjutka will move on to new challenges I'll be responsible for the content of the site. We are a large team with over 1500 members and growing. Of course there are lots of lovely contributors from the team who work with me so I'm not making it happen all alone. Together we can keep the blog appealing and interesting!

Also, I'll be more involved in the team's shop: EuropeForCharity.

So, things are moving on. New challenges for a new year.

this time from a store bought dough
tiny elephants [looking like mini mammoths to me]

Bambi Pouches & Holiday Market

What's the best part of creating something new?
For me (besides seeing the end product) it is choosing the materials.
I made new bambi pouches for the craft market last weekend and I'll bring
these bambis to WeGotBeef's Holiday Market too.
New necklaces, bracelets and earrings will travel to Helsinki as well.
The market is open Fri-Sun from 1 to 7 pm. Warm & cold drinks available.

Cooking, baking, lightning candles, watching the ball on tv
I wish a peaceful day to everyone

carrot lingonberry cake

4 organic eggs
150 g butter
300 g organic grated carrots
2 dl lingonberries
2 dl organic dark sugar
1 dl white sugar
4 dl organic white flour
1 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoons cardamom
1 teaspoons cinnamon

frosting:
2 dl drained plain yoghurt [or cream cheese]
3 dl powdered sugar

howto:
Preheat your oven to 175 celsius
Grease and flour a pan 24-26 cm in dia
Beat eggs with sugar, mix in flour, baking powder and spices
Add grated carrots and lingonberries
Pour into pan
Bake about 50 minutes, let cool the pan
Combine drained yoghurt or cream cheese with powdered sugar
Frost the cooled cake, top with lingonberries
Enjoy!

This new week started with freezing cold temperature (-20 c last night and -12 c this afternoon) and sunshine. I will make sure to have enough wood logs by the fireplace for sure.

The weekend was full of work as I attended a holiday craft market on Sat & Sun. Thanks everyone who stopped by at WeeGee and liked Karuski's table! Now I will start preparing for designmyyjäiset taking place in less than two weeks in Turku.

Christmas Wreaths

It's been a long silence here on Karuski's blog.
Yesterday I finally delivered the laptop sleeves to Nudge.
I posted a few pictures of them on Karuski's Facebook page.

I'm now trying to get myself slowly into holiday mood.

this project started a while back
now i am in the midst of it
cutting and sewing and fitting
karuski laptop sleeves will soon find their way to nudge
it is a lovely eco-conscious life style shop downtown helsinki
i went to see myself last week and liked a lot
it is not only about scratching the surface or greenwashing
they genuinely work in eco-friendly ways on daily basis
even the shop furniture was made of reclaimed materials
and of course, no sweat-shop produced stuff in this store
no rainforests cut down, either

there was an urge to create something new for my shoppe

three new pouches with bambi appliques
earrings are new too
funny how new ideas can sprout under a little stress

Berlin Finds

here are a few of my favorite finds i discovered in berlin
it is a bit funny i shopped quite a bit
i guess i gave myself a permission as i normally almost never go shopping
[except every now and then i do explore flea markets]
so have a look and check the links if you like to find out more

vintage little black/tunic by chloe, purchased from GOO

lovely pleats, ruffles and fabric buttons on the front

vintage hugo boss high heels from the same sweet boutique

well draped tunic by indie designer nadine holtzhauer
i visited her little shop on falckensteinstraße, kreuzberg

loving these large bat sleeves a lot

adorable handpainted enamel locket pendant by villa sorgenfrei
purchased from a small sunday market in friedrichshain
vintage bracelet with matching colors from the same seller

if you love exploring flea markets i definitely recommend this small one on revaler straße [i think that was the name!] in friedrichshain i mentioned above. another one in the area is on on boxhagener platz. there it is worth bargaining, that's the name of the game. still the prices are very reasonable. oh, and one large sunday market i went to was located in mauer park, prenzlauer berg. they offered both vintage and new items, as well as baked goods. there was also a super popular outdoor karaoke, fun!

Berlin Pictures II

i was thinking, as berlin is a city full of [street] art
it would be right to post a few graffiti pictures
it is quite amazing how you find them everywhere in berlin
and how they seem to evolve all the time
one paints something but it might not look the same next week
it is about the freedom of expression, individuals and sub-groups
i find it radical how the society has changed within a short period

while in berlin we went to see the holocaust memorial
it was large and impressive and i found it very poetic
i could feel the isolation when walking through it
rain drops on walls were like tears
but there was the sky above the walls
and there one could see the light

berlin had so much to offer
besides the holocaust memorial i went to the museum of technology,
several indie shops and flea markets too
i'll post more pictures and personal favorites in a day or two

hi friends!
greetings from berlin, i'm now back home after a long weekend.
it was a wonderful trip, we enjoyed a lot.
here is something to start with:
michelberger hotel in friedrichshain we stayed at.
this is the most creative hotel i've ever seen, just awesome. and SO cosy too.

i discovered lots of sweet finds and souvenirs.
will post pictures in coming days here on my blog.

Sunday Walk

it has been a wonderful weekend
crispy autumn days with sunshine
and the first snow on the ground in north finland
yes, winter is around the corner

we had a nice walk today
there's a birdwatching tower by the lake near our home
there were hundreds or thousands of birds in the water and in the sky
they will be heading towards warmer climates soon

i'll be heading to berlin soon. can't wait!

last sunday there was another craft & design market karuski participated in
it was at korjaamo in helsinki, a wonderful old, renovated tram hall
which now organizes cultural events and art exhibitions
over 4000 friends of indie design visited over this weekend
again, i'm showing you something new

Icelandic Horses ♥

last sunday was an extraordinary day
we went for a 4.5 hour hike with icelandic horses
i was there with my cousin & two of her friends
these small horses are quite special
cute yet stubborn whenever they feel like it
we had great fun in the woods together!

it was something different than taking my weekly riding class.
definitely an enjoyable way to explore the nature.
did you ever try something like this?

still several pairs to be assembled

this week has totally flied by so fast!
i spent last weekend at AuraStreetMarket &
as usual i loved the event
the sales weren't as good as a year ago but still decent
i feel happy so big thanks to everyone who visited

this time i'm not posting karuski pictures
but a few photos of irjamarie's whose table was next to mine
selling her sweet greeting cards, all in vintage style
she even offered me her place to stay the saturday night
so very kind of her, i feel grateful

I'm now fully working on another wholesale order.
Hopefully soon I can make something new, new, new for my Etsy too.
But first comes another craft market event. Not this weekend, but the next one.

Craft Fair Preps II

i got paper bags in different sizes
last night i stayed up late
embellishing them
i stamped paper cake doilies
and coasters too
added a little glue and voilá
packing material is ready
i hope buyes will like them
and re-use the bags a lot after the purchase

Lots of vintage cabs and cabochons arrived in mail. Now I can make a nice selection of post earrings right on time before the weekend.

ps. I've got about twenty pincushions in vintage cups ready now. Things are improving!
